Disposal Reasons

Overview

The Disposal Reasons screen lets you manage the list of reasons that can be selected when disposing of an asset. Examples of disposal reasons include sold, scrapped, stolen, or donated. You can add, edit, search for, and delete disposal reasons from this screen.

Getting here

Click Configuration then click Disposal Reasons in the sidebar.

You need the disposal-reasons permission to access this screen.

What you can do on this screen

  • View all disposal reasons in a list

  • Search for a disposal reason by code or description

  • Add a new disposal reason

  • Edit an existing disposal reason

  • Delete a disposal reason

Add a disposal reason

  1. Click Add Reason.

  2. In the Add Disposal Reason dialog, enter a Code for the reason (for example, SOLD). The code is automatically converted to uppercase.

  3. Enter a Description for the reason (for example, Asset sold to third party).

  4. Click Create.

A success message confirms the disposal reason has been created.

Edit a disposal reason

You can open a disposal reason for editing in two ways:

  • Select the code link for the reason in the list.

  • Select the edit icon (pencil) next to the reason.

To save your changes:

  1. In the Edit Disposal Reason dialog, update the Code or Description as needed.

  2. Click Update.

A success message confirms the disposal reason has been updated.

Search for a disposal reason

  1. Enter your search term in the Search disposal reasons... field at the top of the screen.

  2. The list filters automatically as you type. The search matches against both the code and the description.

Delete a disposal reason

  1. Select the delete icon (bin) next to the reason you want to remove.

  2. A confirmation dialog asks: "Are you sure you want to delete this disposal reason? This action cannot be undone."

  3. Click Delete to confirm, or click Cancel to go back without deleting.

A success message confirms the disposal reason has been deleted.

Failed to load disposal reasons. Please try again.

When the system cannot retrieve the list of disposal reasons. Check your network connection and try again.

Are you sure you want to delete this disposal reason? This action cannot be undone.

When you select the delete icon for a disposal reason.

No disposal reasons found

When there are no disposal reasons matching your search, or when no disposal reasons have been created.
